FAQs
What’s the difference between PMBOK® and PRINCE2®?
In short, PMBOK® (The Project Management Book of Knowledge) is a guide and PRINCE2® is a methodology. Both offer processes, but PMBOK® is a collection of experience-based knowledge, while PRINCE2® is a set of techniques. If PMBOK® is informative, PRINCE2® is instructional.
What are the PMBOK® credentials – PMP® and CAPM®?
As defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI), the Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential recognises the ability to lead and direct project teams to deliver on-time and within budget. PMP® candidates are experienced in project management and are responsible for all aspects of projects for the entire duration of those projects. Many companies are now requiring the PMP® qualification as a minimum level of proficiency for new and existing staff. Companies employing PMP® qualified project managers enjoy a definite competitive advantage.
The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) credential confirms an understanding of PMBOK® needed to manage projects. CAPM® candidates are members of project teams and are responsible for individual tasks in their area of expertise within the broader scope of a project.
